As physician assistant in the Netherlands I am authorized to treat patients by myself. This contains the whole job including prescribing medication, (intra-articulair) injections and performing surgery. The musculoskeletal system is my special interest within medicine and it fits my profile as my career pathway went from being a physical therapist to a physician assistant general surgery and later on I specialized myself in orthopaedic and trauma surgery. I assist in surgery as first assistant (also removing osteosynthesis and performing wound closures). I do the wards of the orthopaedic department. Furthermore, I do outpatient, emergency room and clinical consults for all orthopaedic patients and I initiate projects for improving the quality of health-care, patient safety and registries. Also I perform clinical research mostly in the field of orthopaedic infectious diseases and periprosthetic joint infections but also in other orthopaedic or trauma related subjects of interest. I'm a very motivated, enthousiastic person who loves his job. I have very good communication skills and I can cope with feedback very well. Taking initiatives, expanding knowledge in a rigorous way, working as a teamplayer, motivating my co workers, creating the best situations when things get hard, all are qualities that I own. The most important goal I have in my job is to help people to keep moving, improve the quality of health care, improve patient safety and save lives.
